IB Language A: Literatureis a 2 year literature-based course which is generally engaged in the third and fourth year of secondary school. The normal prerequisites are mastery of the Literature II and Writing II outcomes or their equivalent. Students enrolled in this course may be enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or may be seeking a certificate for Language A: Literature. The course is designed to prepare students to pass all of the IB assessments for the course. Students may take the course at higher or standard level; at standard level the student will meet all QSI requirements for graduation, and at higher level they will graduate with additional units completed. Students with a lower level of English proficiency may wish to take it at standard level in order to achieve higher marks on the IB assessments, and/or to focus more on other higher level courses.
